Shannon, who joined RiverView Portfolio as an apprentice 2011, sits on our board of directors and manages and oversees the daily operations of the accounting teams with a keen focus on service delivery. She also works with business owners and individuals, providing advice and support across a wide range of areas to help them plan for the future in a tax effective way.
She loves getting to know her Clients and their businesses, saying “I want our Clients to feel like they are in safe hands and that they are able to ask me any question, no matter how big or small. I want them to feel equipped with the knowledge and resources they need to manage their business.”
Did you always want to work in accounting? Before starting at RiverView Portfolio, I was a gymnast and competed for Great Britain with my goals firmly set on the 2008 Olympics. A nasty injury ended my gymnastic career and shortly after finishing my A-levels I started my apprenticeship here.
What three words would you pick to describe RiverView Portfolio? First, I’d say ‘welcoming’ – we have a lovely, friendly team. Secondly, ‘experienced’ as our colleagues are incredibly skilled. And also ‘ambitious’, because we’re always encouraging our colleagues and Clients to push themselves that little bit further.
What are the values that drive you? A good work ethic – there’s not much you can’t do when you put your mind to it.
What’s your favourite quote to live by? The only person you should strive to be better than, is the person you were yesterday.
What is your proudest moment at RiverView Portfolio? Achieving directorship having started as an apprentice.
