With the new tax year fast approaching, the new rates for National Minimum and Living Wages were announced that come into effect from April 2022.
The new rates per hour from 2022 will be:
23+ year olds – £9.50
21-22 year olds – £9.18
18-20 year olds – £6.83
16-17 year olds – £4.81
Apprentices – £4.81
As an employer it is important that you make sure you are compliant with this, so look out for key birthdays where employees may fall into a new banding of pay.
It is key to note that as well as the increases that will be coming into the place, the age bandings of when the rates apply changed from April 2021. The national living wage was extended to those aged 23 and over.
