WebFiling to require GOV.UK One Login from 13 October 2025
From 13 October 2025, you’ll no longer be able to access your Companies House WebFiling account with your old sign-in details. All users will instead log in through GOV.UK One Login, the government’s new unified login system designed to make online access simpler and more secure. WebFiling will be offline from 12:00 am Saturday 11 October until 8:00 am Monday 13 October 2025 while the transition takes place.
What’s changing?
- WebFiling sign-in will now redirect to GOV.UK One Login
- Your WebFiling email will be your One Login ID – they must match
- Team-shared logins will no longer work; each user needs their own One Login
- You’ll still need your authentication codes to link companies
- The change does not require identity verification yet – that comes later
Why this is happening
Companies House is strengthening security, modernising its systems, and aligning with other government platforms. The change also lays the groundwork for the new identity verification rules coming later in 2025.
Your quick action checklist
- Check your email address – make sure your WebFiling and One Login use the same email.
- Create a GOV.UK One Login – if you haven’t already, set one up using your existing WebFiling email.
- Stop sharing logins – each person filing on behalf of a company needs their own One Login.
- Review your company list – remove any companies you no longer manage.
- Be ready on 13 October – when WebFiling reopens, sign in through GOV.UK One Login and follow the linking steps.
Identity verification coming soon
From 18 November 2025, all directors and people with significant control (PSCs) will need to verify their identity with Companies House. You can verify either via your GOV.UK One Login, or through an authorised agent (such as your accountant). This will roll out gradually over 12 months. But you do not need to verify just to connect WebFiling to One Login.
FAQs
Q: Do I need to verify my identity now?
A: No. Identity checks start 18 November 2025. Connecting to One Login doesn’t trigger verification.

Q: What if I forget my authentication codes?
A: You’ll be prompted for each company code when you connect. You can request new ones from Companies House.
Q: What if I don’t switch by 13 October?
A: You’ll be locked out of WebFiling until you connect your account through GOV.UK One Login.
Q: Does this affect mortgage charge filings?
A: No – those can still be submitted without linking to One Login.sssss
